Sally and Flynn were married at Laloli Gardens in Little Mulgrave — a historic stone gazebo tucked into the trees, fan palms catching the light, and a bamboo tunnel strung with fairy lights for after dark. It's the kind of setting that barely needs styling to feel special, and it made for one of the most beautiful backdrops I've shot in FNQ.

A colourful, textural bouquet of dahlias, orchids, roses and scabiosa against soft garden greens set the tone for Sally and Flynn's day, and between the old stone rotunda and the glow of the bamboo tunnel at night, there was no shortage of beautiful light to work with.

Sally and Flynn also made a smart call with their timeline: all their portraits were done before the ceremony, so once they were married they could walk straight into cocktail hour with their guests instead of disappearing for an hour of photos. We just slipped out briefly at sunset for a few more shots, and again quickly that night for one last portrait lit with flash under the bamboo tunnel, before I headed off. A good reminder that a beautiful gallery doesn't have to come at the cost of actually being present at your own reception.

There's also a nice bit of history tied to this one: it was the last wedding held at Laloli Gardens before the venue closed its doors for around 18 months. It's since reopened under new management, with weddings back on the calendar — so for anyone who fell for this garden and assumed they'd missed their chance, it's very much open again.
