Ravensbourne Lookout does most of the work itself at golden hour — open grass rolling out toward layers of distant hills, the light turning soft and warm right as the sun starts to drop. Neya and Michael met me up there for their engagement session, and it turned out to be exactly the kind of light you can't plan for, only get lucky with.

Like a lot of couples, Neya and Michael told me early on they weren't really comfortable in front of a camera — which, if I'm honest, is one of the most common things I hear before a session starts. It rarely lasts. By the time we were out in the middle of that field, wind picking up, the two of them leaning into each other and laughing more than posing, it was clear they'd forgotten the camera was even there.

That's really the whole point of a session like this — not performing for a lens, just being together somewhere beautiful, with someone hanging back enough to catch it properly.
