Megan and Rob eloped at Melaleuca on Wharf Street — the same tropical courtyard, mango trees overhead, where Rob had proposed a couple of years earlier over dinner on their first trip to Port Douglas together. Coming back to say "I do" in the exact spot felt like the only fitting choice.
Megan and Rob met online in 2021 — their sons had been friends at school but never thought to introduce their parents, so the old-fashioned way it was. What followed was a relationship built on shared love of good food and good wine: farmers markets, winery trips, and an annual fortnight in Port Douglas that clearly became something more than just a holiday. Rob's proposal at Melaleuca, mid-dinner, on that very first Port Douglas trip, was the moment that set everything in motion.
For their wedding, Megan and Rob wanted exactly what had drawn them to Port Douglas in the first place: something private, simple, tropical, and easy. Eloping at Melaleuca meant skipping any of the fuss and keeping the day about the two of them, in the place that already held their story.
