Katie and Steven met on Tinder in 2019, in Townsville — Steve likes to say she came over one day and just never left. Steven's proposal came with a twist. He'd booked a fancy dinner at Bridgewater in Townsville, but before they'd even left the house, he told Katie he had something that would "go nicely with that dress" — and proposed right there in their bedroom. Their engagement celebration came later, on a weekend away in Mission Beach with close friends, who organised a helicopter ride over the beach where their initials had been written into the sand in a giant heart.
