Jordan had been planning this for weeks before he and Grace even landed in Port Douglas — a holiday from Melbourne that was really a proposal in disguise, timed for Sugar Wharf Beach. The only thing neither of us could plan for was the weather, which spent most of the day threatening to ruin it entirely.
It rained on and off for most of the day, and Jordan and I spent it watching the sky more than anything else, both of us quietly hoping it would hold off long enough. It never fully cleared — by the time we got down to the beach it had settled into a light drizzle rather than the downpour we'd been dreading — but somehow that ended up working in our favour. Soft, overcast light, damp sand, nobody else around. Grace had absolutely no idea what was coming.
Jordan got down on one knee right there on Sugar Wharf Beach, drizzle and all, and Grace said yes without a second's hesitation. Sometimes the weather you're praying against turns out to be exactly what makes the moment feel like theirs.

I'd love to hear all about it.
